All GeoChris projects support the self-reliance and long term economic security of the indigenous peoples. The
self-reliance of our indigenous and tribal partner communities and in
the process the sustainability of any and all assistance efforts is
being assured by their participation as proactive stakeholders. Only such projects are being supported that are cooperatively planned and decided upon by the partner communities and GeoChris.
Environmental Awareness
A
fundamental concern of GeoChris is to convey to the indigenous peoples
that environmental protection and ecological sustainability are not in
opposition to economically viable agricultural and manufacturing
methods.
On the contrary, traditional farming and manufacturing processes are
very much conducive to ecological agriculture and to sustain healthy
harvests and crop yields.
Education and Formation
Within
the framework of our Non-Formal Education Program (NFEP) we are
teaching adults fundamentals in literacy and numeracy in their own
native language, in Pilipino and in English
Empowered
with basic literacy and numeracy skills and knowledge the indigenous
peoples will become more self-confident to proactively engage in
improving their quality of living, particularly to secure an
appropriate livelihood, to have a voice in social and political
matters, and to feel culturally and religiously secure.
