GeoChris is a nonprofit institution.
A primary task
of GeoChris is to provide assistance for a variety of self-help projects of indigenous peoples in the Philippines.
The main features of our lean and
subsequently flexible organization are:
Concrete activities and benefits are (among others):
- Micro-credits
to help establish family livelihoods
- Financial support for the construction of community facilities
and infrastructure like (but not limited to) community centers, village
schools, health centers and herbal gardens
- Training in organic
farming and reviving traditional and locally adapted
agricultural methods, including the promotion of composting
- Preservation
of traditional cultural assets and treasures
like local dialects, scripts, myths, poetry, stories, indigenous
knowledge, rituals, dances, and music
- Scholarship
Programs for talented students dedicated to render services to
their own respective indigenous communities
- Educational
Programs
focusing on adult literacy and numeracy, culture appreciation,
political rights, environmental protection, and general health and
hygiene
