successful new year 2012.

Reforestation
and climate protection in the
Philippines
In 2009, the typhoons cut appalling swaths
through the tropical rain forest. For this
reason, GeoChris
supports and promotes the initiative of
the Ubo tribe at Lake Sebu to contribute
to the reforestation by planting
tropical trees.
Providing a starting capital of EUR 50.00 per
family can contribute an
effective sum towards climate protection
and the establishment of a co-operative
society.
This sum will enable a family to
- be
a member of a local
co-operative
- receive two
hectares of land
- have
the recognition
of their ancestral and tribal land
officially certified by the government
in the near future
- benefit
from
subsidized
membership loans with the aim
to reforest the two hectares of
ancestral and tribal land
The
grant is based on the condition that one
hectare of the land assigned must see the
cultivation of rubber trees, and the other
of further endemic plants. In this way we
will give the Ubo people an opportunity to
own a reliable food source (help for
self-help).
Its additional effect is an active
contribution towards
- climate
protection
- bio
diversity
- local water supply
We will
also maintain their Ubo culture with
suitable school education for their
children, and by encouraging their
engagement in local, social and political
life.
We would ask you to transfer your
donations to the account of our relevant
organization with reference to “Lake
Sebu Reforestation”.
